VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese disabled swimmers won one silver and one bronze medal at the World Para Swimming Championship in Mexico City on December 3.

Trinh Thi Bich Nhu defended her silver medal in the women’s 100m breaststroke, clocking a time of 1:57.66.

ASEAN Para Games gold medalist Nhu also won silver in the world championships held in Glasgow, Scotland two years ago.

Meanwhile, Do Thanh Hai bagged a bronze in the men’s 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:42.58. It is the first time Hai has reached the podium in the world tournament.

After two days of competition, Vietnamese swimmers have earned a total of one silver and two bronzes.

On December 2, Vo Thanh Tung took home a bronze medal in the men’s 100m freestyle. The 32-year-old Tung also won bronze in the 50m freestyle in the world championship in Scotland. In the Paralympics 2016 in Brazil, the southern province of An Giang-born swimmer won silver in the same category.

At the World Para Powerlifting Championship held in the same city, Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan dropped out of the women’s 55kg category because of injury in her first attempt.
