Vinh successfully conquered the three levels of 130kg, 134kg and 136kg in the snatch competition for the title, lifting just 1kg more than the lifters from Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.

The 136kg achievement also surpassed Vinh’s gold-medal level, reached at the recent 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia, by 1kg.

The snatch victory allowed the Vietnamese lifter to start the clean and jerk competition with confidence, but unfortunately, he did not managed to succeed with any of the three lifts of 165kg, 165kg and 166kg.

Missing out on the clean and jerk medal meant Vinh dropped the overall gold medal for the total lift. Nevertheless, the snatch crown was an encouraging result for the 1995-born weightlifter.

Earlier, Vietnam’s no. 1 weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan swept all three gold medals in the men’s 56kg category, with a snatch lift of 126kg, a clean and jerk lift of 153kg and a total lift of 279kg.
