A photograph exhibition featuring the solidarity between Vietnamese and
Italian people during the 1960-1970 period was opened at the Ho Chi Minh
Museum in Hanoi on September 25.
The three-day event is
organised by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) in
conjunction with the Vietnam-Italy Friendship Association (VIFA) and the
Italian Embassy in Vietnam.
VIFA Secretary General Nguyen Van
Nam spoke highly of the strong support from the Italian people to
Vietnam’s struggle for national independence and reunification, noting
that Italy was one of the first European countries to recognise the
Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
nowadays.
Nam also expressed his hope that Vietnam-Italy
strategic partnership will create new prospects and opportunities to
further promote comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, for
mutual interest of the two people as well as for peace and friendship
between other nations around the world.
Italian Ambassador to
Vietnam Lorenzo Angeloni highlighted the significance of the photo
exhibition, saying that the event demonstrates closely connections
between the two countries from the past to present and towards future.
It also helps younger generations understand more about
international solidarity among nations over the world in fighting
for global peace, friendship and cooperation, he added.-VNA
