The Thai Education Ministry plans to raise vocational education standard
to international ones to enable local students’ easier access to job
placements after graduation.
The ministry
will cooperate with the private sector to employ more fresh graduates
from vocational schools, helping raise the quality of Thai workforce and
making the country a center of regional vocational education.
Earlier, Thailand and two negibouring countries – Lao and Vietnam
– agreed on a plan to develop a vocational education programme that
will allow graduates to land jobs in any of their territories.
The three countries have shared similar problems when it comes to
vocational education, like vocational training being unpopular among
youths.
The countries also shared the need
to prepare themselves – including their vocational education programmes –
for an ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), which will create a single
market for all 10 ASEAN nations with a free flow of labour in 2015.-VNA
