Thailand’s Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) in August stood at 79.3, 1.3 lower than the previous month.
According
to Director of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s
Economic and Business Forecasting Centre Tanawat Polwichai, the CCI in
August dropped to 79.3 from 80.6 in July, whereas the Economic
Confidence Index remained at 69.5. He further revealed that the Future
Income Confidence Index stood at 96.7.
In addition, he said
the CCI has consecutively been subsiding for the past five months,
while the figure in August was the lowest since December 2012.
The
director also mentioned about the country’s exports, saying Thailand
saw a drop of 1.5 percent month-on-month in its July export and had only
a 0.6 percent export growth in the first seven months of this year.-VNA
