Khoi wins standard category at national chess event
Fifteen-year-old chess player Nguyen Anh Khoi won the men’s standard category title at the National Chess Team Championship in HCM City.

The young “International Master” tied Grandmaster Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son in the last and ninth round after more than three hours.
Following seven wins and two draws, Khoi took the lead with eight points.
Nguyen Duc Hoa of the Military team and Nguyen Van Huy of Ha Noi were the runners-up with the same points of 6.5.
Khoi won the world title in the U10 division in 2012 and U12 event in 2014.
In the women’s competition, Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong overcame many famous names such as Hoang Thi Bao Tram, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung and Dang Bich Ngoc to win the title with 7.5 points.
Minh wins rapid chess event
To Nhat Minh won the rapid chess category of the ongoing National Chess Team Championship in HCM City.

Minh of Ha Noi had seven wins, one draw and one loss to finish on 7.5 points after nine matches, as did his teammate Nguyen Van Huy and Le Tuan Minh of Binh Duong.
Although all three players finished level on points, Hanoian Minh won on a tie-breaker.
On the women’s side, with seven wins and two draws, Hoang Thi Bao Tram of HCM City took the title with eight points.
Hoang Thi Nhu Y of Binh Duong and Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong of HCM City finished second and third with seven points each.
Earlier, fifteen-year-old Nguyen Anh Khoi won the men’s standard category with eight points and HCM City’s Duong won the women’s title with 7.5 points.
Today, participants will compete in the blitz chess event.
