Chien defeated Colombian Catano Huberney 40-18 after 19 innings on Wednesday.

Today, the World Cup silver medalist will face Sameh Sidhom of Egypt, who won 40-25 over Erick Tellez of Costa Rica.

Chien is one of six Vietnamese athletes at the World Games, which is the biggest event for sports that are not included in Olympics.

Earlier, Nguyen Thanh Loc finished seventh out of eight athletes in the men’s 100m surface finswimming event.

Today, Dao Le Thu Trang and Dao Thi Nhu Quynh will participate in the women’s duo jujitsu. Vo Van Dai and Bui Yen Ly will compete in the Muay Thai events on Sunday.
