Hidehiro Irisawa has resigned as head coach of the national women’s volleyball team after just four months.
Hidehiro Irisawa has decided to quit from his position after just four months.
Le Tri Truong, general secretary of the Viet Nam Federation of Volleyball (VFV), said there were some issues related to documents and procedures concerning the contract that could not be resolved.
So far, Irisawa and the VFV had been working together through a working agreement, and the contract could be signed only after he submitted all relevant documents to the federation, Truong said.
However, rumour has it that the Japanese coach and the VFV did not see eye to eye. He is said to have believed that the federation interfered too much in his work and that he did not have any rights when it came to the team.
Irisawa had been in charge of the national women’s team and had made plans for the youth squads. Under his direction, Vietnam had won a bronze medal in the Asian U23 Championship.
Truong said the coach’s unexpected resignation would strongly affect the team’s plans for the Southeast Asian Games in August.
Irisawa’s assistant Nguyen Quoc Vu will take charge of the team temporarily.
