Japanese traditional art troupe Ship of the Ryuky from Okinawa will join with Non La Theater to perform Que Huong – Furasato at Ben Thanh Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The program lasts 120 minutes and is in two parts; the first features
performances of Non La Theater’s artists with Quang Trung drum show,
highlands percussion, Hue royal dance, T’rung musical instrument and hat boi
(traditional opera). Ship of the Ryuky will entertain with 14 items of
traditional dances, music, sound performances, lion dance, karate
martial arts and Okinawa traditional dance, Elisa drum and opera singing
in part two.
Ship of the Ryukyu is a collective of singers and dancers led by seven
young directors from Okinawa. The company was formed to help develop an interest in Okinawa’s vast heritage and to introduce the
world to Okinawa’s culture, of which the traditional singing
‘Kumi-Odora’ has been recognized as a world intangible heritage. The
troupe has performed in Brazil, China, Russia, France, Hong Kong,
Singapore,
Taiwan, the U.S. and Australia.
This is the first time it has performed in Vietnam and after the show the troupe will visit Macau, Malaysia and the U.K.
