The performance of “The Mist” by Arabesque dance group
The US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday announced that two Vietnamese art groups, Arabesque from Ho Chi Minh City and and the Tri Minh Quartet from Hanoi, have been selected to tour the US next year.
Accordingly, the Tri Minh Quartet will perform in the fall next year while seven dancers from Arabesque will tour either from July to August or from October to November with the prestigious Center Stage tour, a program initiated by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
For the tour, Arabesque will perform “The Mist”, a contemporary dance show that reveals the cycles of rural Vietnamese life and the Tri Minh Quartet will bring the sounds of contemporary Hanoi to American audiences through a combination of electronica, acoustic instruments, and traditional motifs.

The tours for both groups will include performances, workshops, discussions, people-to-people exchanges, and community gatherings.
First launched in 2012, the Center Stage program helps to build mutual understanding via cultural expression and people to people connections by using the performing arts to support cultural understanding between American and international communities.
Apart from Vietnam, next year’s event will feature performances by artist from Morocco and Pakistan.
