Toyota Vietnam Foundation (TVF) in cooperation with Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) announces the “Toyota Concert Tour 2013”. This is the 16th year that Toyota Concert has been implemented in Vietnam since 1998. The program will be held in 2 big cities with 3 performance nights on 30 July 2013 at Ho Chi Minh Theatre and on 02 – 03 August 2013 at Hanoi Opera House.

On the occasion of Japan – Vietnam Friendship Year and 40 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, Toyota also supports VNSO to organize “VNSO Japan Concert Tour 2013” at 7 big cities of Japan from 21 Sep 2013 to 01 Oct 2013 with the participation of narrator people’s artist Le Khanh and pianist Kodama Momo, imposing the cultural exchange between the nations, especially in the field of classical music.

Toyota Concert Tour 2013 is prepared and performed by Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO), under the baton of Japanese maestro Honna Tetsuji and brings music lovers various delicate melodies of Japan, Vietnam and the world with 2 works of Russian romanticism composer Tchaikovsky, the joyful Music for Symphony Orchestra of Japanese conductor-composer Yasushi Akutagawa, and the arrangement for symphony orchestra of the folk song “Xe chi luon kim” (Love duets of Bac Ninh) of the composer Tran Manh Hung.

With the hope to create more chances for Young Music Talents to practice and shine, this year’s concert gets the 2nd-time participation of Do Phuong Nhi, a 15-year-old talented violinist, with challenging Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35 of Tchaikovsky.

About Asian Youth Orchestra

Since its inaugural concerts in 1990, the Asian Youth Orchestra has played 291 concerts in Asia, Europe, the US and Australia to an audience of more than one million concertgoers. Millions more around the world have seen and heard the orchestra on CNN, CNBC Asia, NHK Television, Radio and Television Hong Kong, and Star TV.

A staggering 20,000 musicians, ranging in age from 17 to 27, have auditioned for AYO. Those selected for the full scholarship program study with an exceptional artist-faculty of principal players from the Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, National, San Francisco and Pittsburgh symphony orchestras, Brussels’ Monnaie Opera, the Triple Helix Trio, and the Boston Conservatory and Peabody conservatories.

Join us for Hanoi’s second annual Pride weekend, August 2-4, 2013.

Viet Pride 2013 aims to raise awareness, generate dialogue, and empower the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. It will comprise film screenings, discussions with noteworthy LGBT individuals, and a bike rally to raise awareness and build solidarity. Viet Pride is also home to the Strive with Pride Scholarships, which work to empower LGBT youth.

Like Pride elsewhere in the world, Viet Pride joins the global call to end prejudice, discrimination, shame and invisibility on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity. It forges the truth that every human is born free and equal, and to love someone is never a criminal act, a religious sin, a medical illness, or a social evil.

– 13.30-15.30: Talkshow “The Art of Telling LGBT Stories” a talkshow with three young artists. Maika Elan, Nguyen Ngoc Thach, and Huynh Nguyen Dang Khoa have made remarkable contributions to telling the stories of LGBT people, through photography, literature and film.

– 15.30-17.30: Film screening: “Beautiful Boxer” (Thailand)

– 17.30-19.30: Workshop “Go Far, Go Together” – a forum for learning about LGBT-oriented grassroots groups
