Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Jakarta, starting his
state visit to Indonesia, the first leg of his first Southeast Asia
tour since he assumed presidency in March.
While in
Indonesia, Xi is scheduled to hold talks with his host President
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Vice President Boeidiono, leaders of the
Indonesian parliament, and representatives of the business circle there.
The Chinese leader will deliver a speech at the
Indonesian parliament on the strengthening of bilateral ties, the
relation between China and ASEAN, as well as the development of
China.
The Indonesian President said he would
exchange views with Xi on bilateral relations, international and
regional issues of mutual concern, the strengthening of cooperation and
the acceleration of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
China has become Indonesia’s second biggest
trade partner with two-way trade value reaching 66.2 billion USD last
year, four times the figure in 2005.
After Indonesia,
Xi will visit Malaysia before returning to Indonesia for the 21 st
economic leaders’ meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in
Bali on October 7 and 8.-VNA
