It was his third medal here. The first one was in the men’s 50m pistol event on Tuesday.

Dat set his first record and took the gold in the men’s 10m air pistol individual event with 572 points, one more than the previous record which was made up by soldier Vu Tan Duong of the military four years ago.

His teammate Ngo Quoc Hung who had same number of points was placed second. Ngo Quoc Vu of the hosts was third with 563 points.

Dat’s second record came from the team event as he grouped with Hung and Nguyen Hoai Son to total 1,699 points.

Hanoian Nguyen Cong Dau pocketed his second title for the men’s 10m running target mixed individual event.

His teammate Le Thanh Nam was second, followed by Le Tuan Dat of the military.

The hosts grabbed the second gold when Phung Viet Dung triumphed in the men’s 50m rifle prone individual class.

Hoang Dinh Tu of Thanh Hoa and Tran Duc Cong from Hai Duong were second and third, respectively.

Thai Nguyen draw 1-1 with Ha Nam

A 1-1 draw yesterday narrowed Phong Phu Ha Nam’s chances of winning the National Women’s Football Championship title.

Ha Nam had two points less than the leading team Ha Noi 1 before it took on TNG Thai Nguyen in the ninth round match in Nha Trang City. A win over Thai Nguyen, who were ranked lower, was expected to push Ha Nam to the top. However, Ha Nam’s Vu Thi Thuy could score only in the last minute of the first half of the match, though the team made strong attacks from the first whistle.

National team member Nguyen Hai Hoa levelled the score for Thai Nguyen in the 78th minute, helped by the Ha Nam goalkeeper’s mistake.

After the unexpected draw, Ha Nam are placed second with 19 points, one point behind Ha Noi 1.

Thai Nguyen rank fifth among six teams, with 10 points.

In the last-round match, Ha Nam will play last year’s runner-up HCM City on Saturday, and Thai Nguyen will face Ha Noi 2 a day earlier.
