VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam expects to bag medals in kickboxing at the ongoing 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in the Republic of Korea after three out of its four athletes qualified for semi-finals on July 4.

Female martial artist Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai defeated Mongolia’s Sergelenbayar Myadagmaa 3-0 in the 56kg division.

She will face Uzbekistan’s Khujaniyozova Shakhnoza in a semifinal on July 5.

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung beat Uzbekistan’s Karimova Ironakhon 3-0 to earn a semifinal face-off against host player Kim Mink-young.

Tran Thanh Y won his match against Kuwait’s Fahad Abtaan 2-1 in the men’s 71kg division.  

 Nguyen Hoang Hiep lost to Uzbekistan’s Abdiraimov Azamat in his 63kg division bout.

***In dance sports, the Nguyen Hai Anh/Nguyen Trong Nha Uyen duo advanced to the Tango and Quickstep finals.

Nguyen Quoc Nguyen vanquished Japan’s Takeshima 40-33 in the semifinal of the three cushion carom billiards competition.

His teammate Ma Xuan Cuong lost to Japan’s Umeda 32-40.

Nguyen Quoc Nguyen and Umeda will now battle for the gold medal.

Huynh Thi Ngoc Huyen progressed to the women’s nine ball pool round of 16 after beating the Philippines’ Iris Ranola 7-4. She will play China’s Liu Shasha.
