VietNamNet Bridge – Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tru in Binh Chanh Dist, Ho Chi Minh City, has been recognized as the oldest woman in Vietnam. Her health is fairly good and she eats three to four bowls of rice each day.

Mrs. Tru lives with her children in Da Phuoc Commune, Binh Chanh Dist, HCM City.

She spends most of her time in a small room next to the kitchen.

She has 11 children but eight of them died. She now lives with her youngest son and his wife.

According to her ID card, Mrs. Tru was born in 1893, or 121 years old.

Mr.
Nguyen Huu Phuong, her youngest son is now 74 years old. Mr. Phuong
said his mother is in good health, but her memory and hearing ability is
not very good.

Phuong said about three years ago his mother could
walk and do everything for herself. At present the woman is less active
and spends most of the time sitting in a hammock.

Mrs. Tru has lost most of her teeth so the food must be soft.

She eats 3-4 bowls of rice a day.

She spends most of the time sitting in a hammock listening to Buddhist lessons from a recorder. A few years ago, she used to go to pagodas.

There are many certificates of merit for longevity and a record certificate from the Vietnam Guinness Book Center.
