VietNamNet Bridge – Old apartments in HCM City have become impressivel locations for many coffee shops in HCM City.

An old apartment on Pasteur Street, District 1, for example, is  home to five coffee shops which are always crowded.

Mr. Hung, the owner of a coffee shop in an old apartment in District 1, said: “To find a good place to open a café in the downtown area is very difficult because these sites have been occupied by the most famous coffee brands. The rent at old apartments is much lower and the rent period is longer. However, to attract customers, these coffee shops must create their own styles.”

Many old apartments have been turned
into splendid cafes. An old apartment on Ton That Dam Road, District 1,
is now a popular destination for many young people because it is a home
to impressive fashion and coffee shops.

In these old apartments, the stairs leading to coffee shops are quite dark but it makes these shops look special.

The stairs of these apartments are covered with billboards and signs for customers.

The path to a famous cosplay cafe goes through many households with furniture and clothes spread everywhere.

But
inside the shop is a different world. Mr. Vy, the owner of The Other
Person said: “The cost of investment is up to VND500 million ($25,000),
equivalent to a restaurant facing the road. But the rent is only VND7
million ($350) per month.”

Looking from outside, the coffee shop is similar to the surrounding apartments.

Some
shops are decorated in the style of old apartments, using old objects
to create a cozy atmosphere. The prices for drinks in these shops are 
VND30,000 to VND50,000 ($1.5-2.5).

To distinguish themselves from other apartments, coffee shops have signboards.
