Vietnamese poster lovers have a chance to learn about the 100-year
evolution of Finnish graphic design at an exhibition that opened in the
ancient imperial city of Hue on April 29.
Co-organised by the Finnish Embassy in Hanoi and Thua Thien-Hue
provincial People’s Committee, the week-long event is part of this
year’s jubilee programme to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties
between Vietnam and Finland .
With 100 posters
from Lahti Poster Museum , the exhibition provides visitors a
broad picture of Finland ’s socio-economic development, especially in
sports, tourism, advertising and education.
A similar exhibition was held from March 21-24 at the National Library in Hanoi .
The art of poster design originated in Paris in the 19th century
and spread across Europe and North America . It has been popular in
Finland since 1880 and promoted the development of many printing
techniques including lithography, chromolithography, screen printing,
posters and photomontage.-VNA
