VietNamNet Bridge – A Vietnamese scientist working in Poland was granted the state-level professor title by Polish President Bronisław Komorowski.
Friends share the joy with Professor Mai Xuan Ly (center) after he received the professor title from the Polish President.
The ceremony took place on April 22 at the Polish Presidential Palace. Ly is the third Vietnamese receiving the title from the Polish state.
Professor Mai Xuan Ly is working at the Institute of Physics, the Academy of Science of Poland. The above title is presented to him in recognition of his contribution to the development of Polish science.
“This is the great honor for not only my family, but also for the Vietnamese community in Poland”, said Professor Ly.
“It will motivate me a lot in research and development of the young calculation science at the HCM City Institute of Calculation Science and Technology in particular and in Vietnam in general,” Professor Ly said.
Prof. Mai Xuan Ly was born in 1953 in Thanh Hoa Province. He graduated from high school in 1970. From 1970 to 1976, he studied at the University of Kishiniov, Moldova, specialized in theoretical physics.
He now works at the Institute of Physics, Academy of Science of Poland, in Warsaw. From 2009, he is the Head of the Life Sciences Department and the scientific advisor of the HCM City Calculation Science and Technology Institute.
