VietNamNet Bridge – The Ha Noi People’s Committee on March 27, announced that it would build an eight-storey trade centre near Hoan Kiem (Sword Return) Lake amid concerns about limiting development in the historical centre of the city.
The building will be located at No 10 Tran Nguyen Han Street and 27-29 Ly Thai To
Street and feature a centre of trade as well as hotels and offices for rent.
The building, to be erected by the Vietnam Electrical Equipment JS Corporation, will be about 32m high and also include four underground floors. Total floor space will cover 6,000sq.m.
The development project is part of changes to Hoan Kiem District planning that have been ratified by Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao.
The committee rejected claims in the local media that the building would be 16 stories high.
The committee’s Planning, Construction and Transport Division explained that the building’s height outlined in the decision was 32m, thus claims that the building would have 16 floors are false.
The committee stated that the new plan aimed at continuing the Government’s work on moving some ministries and central agencies to suburban areas and developing facilities serving tourism in the city’s centre.
The building will be located at No 10 Tran Nguyen Han Street and 27-29 Ly Thai To Street and feature a centre of trade as well as hotels and offices for rent.

Responding to concerns about ensuring new buildings do not create eyesores and spoil the beauty of the historical lake, the committee said it had consulted the city’s architecture council and construction specialists.
All sides see the need to have a spacious, luxury building in the city’s centre. The plan on constructing the 32-storey building was also approved by the ministries of Finance and Industry and Trade.
Chairman Thao has asked Hoan Kiem District authorities to release the plan to the public and supervise construction of the building.
Detailed information on the date that construction work will begin has not been revealed.
