The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang posted 1.056 billion USD in
export turnover in the first nine months of 2014, a record 39.1 percent
increase year on year.
Rice, the province’s major commodity,
maintained its steady pace of growth with more than 155,000 tonnes sold
overseas in the period.
High increases were also seen in the export of aquatic products, clothing and shoes.
According to Ngo Van Tuan, Director of the provincial Industry and
Trade Department, these soaring figures were attributable to the
implementation of effective measures to expand export markets and manage
export activities.
He said the province has provided
assistance to local enterprises in seeking new markets and partners
through domestic and international fairs or market survey trips, while
timely dealing with arising problems.
Tien Giang has set the target of earning 1.3 billion USD from exports this year.-VNA
