Can Tho city will work with other Mekong Delta localities to step up
trade promotion abroad in order to push the region’s export turnover to
over 11 billion USD in 2014, an official has said.

Tung, Director of the city’s Investment – Trade – Tourism Promotion
Centre, said Can Tho together with Ben Tre and Kien Giang provinces will
join in the Flanders International Trade Fair in Ghent city, Belgium,
from September 6 – 14.
The city will send to the event 46
businesses, which will showcase processed agricultural and aquatic
products, garments, footwear, handicrafts, and tourism services.
After
that, it will make a market survey in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates,
and take part in the Big 5 Dubai 2014 exhibition, he added.
Ca
Mau province will also survey markets and promote investment and tourism
while participating in the Japan International Seafood and Technology
Expo, the Fine Food Australia and the World Food Moscow 2014 in Russia.
In
the coming time, its neighbour Kien Giang will display its best
products and services at an international autumn trade fair for tourism
in Russia, an Asia fair on tourism, a trade and investment promotion in
Singapore, and a rice expo in China.
Recently, Mekong Delta
enterprises have carried out promotion activities in India, the Republic
of Korea, Japan, Thailand, Australia, the US and some European, African
and Middle Eastern countries.
During those trips, they won a
number of contracts worth hundreds of millions of USD, helping bring the
region’s exports to 6.4 billion USD in the first seven month of 2014,
up 233 million USD from a year earlier.
Regional businesses have
also received assistance from the Vietnamese Embassies, which helped the
circle’s access to market information and operation overseas.-VNA
