The post services of Vietnam and Singapore on September 12 issued a
set of joint stamps to mark the 40th anniversary of the two
countries’ diplomatic relations.
This is the second time the
two countries issued a joint stamp set. The first one was published five
years ago on the occasion of the 35 th anniversary of their bilateral
diplomatic ties.
The set comprises of two stamps featuring two
rare species of jungle fowl, the grey peacock pheasant representing
Vietnam and the red jungle fowl representing Singapore.
Addressing the publication ceremony in Hanoi, Nguyen Thi Boi Lan,
Director of the Ministry of Information and Communication’s Department
of Posts said the issue marks a milestone in the cooperation between the
two post offices, contributing to the friendship and comprehensive
cooperation between the two governments and peoples.
Earlier on
September 11, a special art performance staged by Singaporean and
Vietnamese military artists took place in Hanoi to salute Singaporean
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on his visit to Vietnam and mark the
40 th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Through songs and dances, the artists praised land and people of each
country as well as the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between
the two States, armies and peoples.-VNA
