Thai Permanent Secretary for Commerce Watcharee Wimuktayon has disclosed
that the country’s inflation rate in March rose almost 3 percent higher
than that of the same period last year due to an increase in food and
beverage prices.

Watcharee said the rising prices of fresh
food and beverages have prompted the inflation index to rise to 104.73
in March, increasing by 2.69 percent year-on-year.

The March’s
figure is also reportedly 0.07 percent higher than February’s. The
inflation rate for the first 3 months of this year is 3.09 percent
higher than the figure of the same period last year.

However, the ministry said the inflation is expected to remain between
2.8-3.4 percent through out the year of 2013, according to Watcharee.-VNA
