The opening ceremony drew National Assembly Chairman Uong Chu Luu, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Vietnam Anar Imanov and President of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association Vu Khai, among others.

Addressing the event, Khai said the Vietnam-Azerbaijan friendship has been nurtured through many decades. In recent years, bilateral ties have grown in many areas, he said.

Along with state-level diplomatic activities, the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association has held activities to foster cooperation between people of both sides, while acting as a bridge linking localities and organisations in various areas such as culture, education, science and technology, economy-trade and sport-tourism, said Khai.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Anar Imanov said the exhibition is an important activity to mark the 100th National Day of Azerbaijan. The photos displayed at the event, captured by photographer Ta Ngoc Xuan, show beautiful views of Baku, the capital city of the country, which has hosted many Vietnamese students.

She said she hopes the exhibition will help strengthen ties between the two countries.

The exhibition aims to deepen the friendship between Vietnam and Azerbaijan, while promoting people-to-people exchange. It features 60 photos by photographer Ta Ngoc Xuan and some photos of Azerbaijan 100 years ago provided by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Vietnam.

The event runs through May 27.-VNA
