Talented flutist Le Thu Huong and her friends will bring music lovers in Hanoi a concert “Parfums de Paris” (Perfumes of Paris) at L’Espace French Cultural Centre in Hanoi, at 8pm, on June 9.
Flutist Thu Huong to perform in Hanoi
The concert promises to recreate a multi-dimensional music space with different genres of French music, from movie soundtracks to blues, jazz and contemporary pieces.
The first part of the programme will be dedicated to romantic music, with French songs and movie soundtracks. Le Thu Huong will be joined by guest pianist Lee Ji Sung in Fantasie Op.79 for flute and piano by French chamber music teacher Gabriel Fauré.
She will perform with many special artists: singer Giang Trang and other jazz musicians such as Lam Duc Chinh, Nguyen Minh Duc (bass), Hoang Phu Tung (drums) and Luong Viet Tu (piano).
Audiences will get to enjoy the music that made Yann Tiersen famous, from the movie Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain, and familiar songs such as Song Bang Bang by Sonny Bono, with the cover of French Sheila, and the song La Maritza, co-written by Pierre Delanoë and Jean Renard.
This is also the occasion for the Vietnam’s premiere of “Suite for flute and jazz trio” by French musician Claude Bolling.
Le Thu Huong’s exquisite flute skills and singer Giang Trang’s voice will be accompanied by talented musicians and a jazz trio from the Vietnam National Academy of Music. The concert is promised to bring a new, unique, music experience to audiences.
Born into a musical family, Le Thu Huong began her flute education at the age of eight and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal Danish Academy of Music with a master’s degree in music from the Vietnam National Academy of Music. She has studied with world-renowned flute musician William Bennett through his master class courses in London and received a scholarship from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency to study in the Advanced Performing Arts programme in Malmo Music Academy – Sweden.
