A total of 30 artworks by four lecturers from the Vietnam University of Industrial Fine Arts are being displayed at an exhibition that opened at the Korean Cultural Centre in Hanoi on December 26.

Under the theme ‘That is Life’, the exhibition presents the personal experiences and perceptions on life in multidimensional points of view from the four participating artists, who are Trinh Tuan, Nguyen Ngoc Quan, Vu Huu Nhung, and Le Anh Vu.

Among them, Trinh Tuan is an established painter who specialises mainly in figurative lacquer painting and Vietnamese traditional painting techniques. Painter Nguyen Ngoc Quan has developed deep interest in such materials as watercolour, acrylic and oil painting.

Meanwhile, Vu Huu Nhung is widely known for his ‘Nhung Ceramics’, which is a popular trademark both in the country and aboard for upholding the traditional firing techniques of his hometown – Phu Lang ceramic village. Sculptor Le Anh Vu has been appreciated for his daring experiments on various materials such as ceramic, iron, stone, wood and synthetic.

Four artists following four different styles but they share a common passion for the arts and a similar aspiration to inspire the love of arts for their students and younger artists, in hope that Vietnamese fine arts will be preserved and further developed.

The exhibition is being hosted by the Korean Cultural Centre in Hanoi as a closing event of a series of activities being staged this year to celebrate the 25th anniversariy of Vietnam – Republic Korea diplomatic ties.

It also aims to honour Vietnamese artists, who have made significant contributions to boosting cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The exhibition will run through January 6, 2018 at 49 Nguyen Du street, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi.
