Saigon Railways will offer discounts of 20-50 percent on many routes, including Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi, starting August 15.
Through this year a 20 percent discount will be offered to all passengers on the HCMC-Hanoi, HCMC-Nha Trang, HCMC-Phan Thiet and Tuy Hoa-Nha Trang routes.
On the HCMC-Hanoi route they will get a 50 percent discount if they buy ticket at least 60 days in advance and 30 percent if they buy 30-59 days in advance.
Cancelations and changes can be made up to 72 hours prior to departure.
Saigon Railways also announced the launch of more trains during Independence Day (September 2), including one from HCMC to Quy Nhon on September 1, which will return on September 4.
This train will stop at Bien Hoa, Binh Thuan, Thap Cham, Nha Trang, Ninh Hoa, Tuy Hoa and Dieu Tri.
Hanoi Railways also announced the launch of trains from the capital to Lao Cai, Vinh and Dong Hoi on September 1. They will return on September 4.
It takes 31-38 hours to cover the 1,726 km between HCMC and Hanoi, and tickets cost VND578,000-VND1.6 million (US$26-72).
