A live television programme linking the capital city of Hanoi and
Truong Sa archipelago took place on June 7 night under the theme “Our
sea and islands”.
The event, co-organised by the
Vietnam Television (VTV) and VNG Corporation, was the first between the
mainland and Truong Sa Lon Island in Truong Sa archipelago in the
central province of Khanh Hoa .
Guests at the show included officials from the Government, the Ministry of National Defence and the Navy High Command.
A variety of activities were combined in the show including art
performances, TV reportages, and video clips, with the focus being
exemplary individuals and localities in the cause of defending the
fatherland’s sea and islands.
Researcher Pham Hoang
Quan, who has been studying Vietnam’s sovereignty on the East Sea
through China’s ancient history for 15 years, shared his aspiration with
the audience, together with oceanographer Chu Hoi, Dr Pham Ngoc Nam,
the designer of marine platform DK1, and Tran Quan Bao, who donated
documents and photos about the time his family lived on Hoang Sa
archipelago in 1939-1940 island to the State to help affirm the
country’s sovereignty over the archipelago.

Minh, VNG General Director said, the participation of social networks
such as Zing Me has contributed greatly to the success of the programme.
Just one week after its launch, the “Our sea and
islands” website has attracted over 37,000 members and 13,000 messages
to Truong Sa soldiers.-VNA
