The 13 th National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on March 22 held a
question-and-answer session in Hanoi with Chief Judge of the Supreme
People’s Court Truong Hoa Binh.

Addressing the
event, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said the session aims to improve the
working quality of State apparatus, especially the contingent of cadres
and officials to turn the Supreme People’s Court into a working centre
of the judicial sector.

Hung highlighted the comprehensive reforms in education and training to meet the demand of national development.

Legislators posed questions on measures to overcome shortcomings in
professional expertise and experience, judges and juries’ sense of
responsibility at local courts, and the enhancement of supervision to
minimise negative occurrences in hearings.

Answering Hung’s questions on eight criteria set under the NA Resolution
No. 37 on combating crime, activities of the Supreme People’s Court and
Supreme People’s Procuracy, and enforcement work this year, Binh
affirmed that the whole judicial sector will do its utmost to fulfil set
goals.

Binh added that the sector is working on a new Resolution that defines suspended-sentence regulations.

He also acknowledged delays in trials of administrative cases, and
pledged that the sector will strive to deal with the issue.-VNA
