Cellist Gauthier Herrmann, a member of Arties Quartet, who will perform in Hanoi at the end of the month

Classical music group Arties Quartet will fill L’Espace in Hanoi with the European melodies of yesteryear on October 31.

The 8 p.m. concert at the capital’s French cultural center comes as part of a celebration marking the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to a press release by L’Espace and the French Embassy, Arties is a collective of international musicians who share a  passion for chamber music. All of them have graduated from European conservatories and have since then travelled the world to play in the best concert halls. They are soloists, chamber musicians, indipendent artists or members of large French and European orchestras.

“These well-known and young talents want to overcome the general codes and protocol of classical concerts to offer an excellent performance in a friendly, generous and spontaneous spirit,” says the release.

The quartet, including violinist Sullimann Altmayer, violist Julien Dabonneville, Cellist Gauthier Herrmann, and pianist Romain Descharmes, will perform G. Fauré’s Piano Trio in D minor, opus 120; WA Mozart’s Piano Quartet No. 2 in E flat major k.493; and R. Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E flat major opus 47.

Tickets are priced at VND120 000 (Special price for members of L’Espace and students: 60 000 VND) are available at L’Espace, 24 Trang Tien Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi.
